mention in our mission we are conducting lots of Programmes
Island wide relating environmental and wild life conservation.
Our main Objectives are;
- Conducting surveys and forwarding reports on Subjects
Related to environment and natural resourses in Sri Lanka.
- Making special surveys about the Sri Lanka waterfalls,
preserving, conserving
and proposing management strategies to, which are facing
disaster.
- Conserving endemic, rare threatened sp. by using excitu
conservation and insitu conservation
with the help of the membership and to form experimenting
groups, instructional and supervisory groups.
- Establish environmental brigades in selected schools
with the instructions of divisional
forest officers attached to the Central Environmental Authority.
- To make close relationship with international organizations
whose main Objective to conserve nature and join hands with
them to conserve
and protect nature for future generation.
Past Programmes
- Conducted awareness programmes relating environment and
Wild life conservation for school children & Teachers.
- Participatory forestry programme covered main six districts.
- Introduced soil conservation methods under upper watershed
Management Project phase –2.
- National parks conservation project part –1 (leaflet
programme.)
- Recycle project covered six districts.
- Donated food and, relevant vaccination for elephant openarges
at Pinnawala and Udawalawa.
Present Programmes
- City clean up project phase –2, this was carry
out only selected cites. (In most polluted city areas specially).
- Conducting awareness programme about knuckles forest
reserve emphasizing biological importance and major reasons
behind its distraction threats, with media.
- To restore mangrove ecosystems, carry out replanting
campaigns in coastal area, especially in Putlam area with
the help of coastal conservation relating organizations.
- Carry out tree planting programmes along the riversides.
Future Programmes
- Donating food and necessary vaccination programme will
be extending for elephant orphanages at pinnawalla and udawalawa.
- City clean up project phase- 2 will be implementing.
- Tank rehabilitation projects in rural areas.
- Mangrove replanting campaigns.
- Awareness programmes relating Bio fertilizer and its
importance.
- Re cycling projects.
- Urban forestry programmes.
- Catchments area identifying and conservation projects(Water
Falls Conservation).
